About

Verified information. Real specifications. No marketing spin.

Advanced Grow Lights is an AI-powered horticultural lighting directory built on one principle: spec data is the source of truth, not marketing copy. We cover 36+ brands and 58+ products — and we keep that data current at a scale that a traditional editorial team can’t match.

Our Mission

The horticultural lighting market is full of impressive-looking claims and not enough independent verification. Manufacturers compete on numbers — PPF, PPFD, efficacy, coverage area — that are easy to print on a spec sheet and hard for buyers to confirm.

We built Advanced Grow Lights to fix that.

Every listing on this site goes through the same review: we audit the submitted IES file against the manufacturer’s claimed specifications. If the photometric data doesn’t back up the marketing copy, we don’t publish the listing. If a manufacturer provides independent third-party lab certification, they earn an additional badge — but they earn it on documentation, not on payment.

Our promise to buyers: When you see a Verified badge on this site, the numbers behind it have been audited.
Our promise to manufacturers: Paid placement affects visibility — never credibility. A Premium Partner listing and a Basic free listing carry the exact same verification standard.

Why This Exists

For years, the grow light space has run the same cycle: a new brand launches with impressive numbers, buyers have no way to verify them, and the good manufacturers — the ones whose products actually deliver on the spec sheet — get lost in the noise.

The AGL team has spent seven years in and around the horticultural lighting industry, long enough to watch the LED revolution displace HPS, quantum boards displace blurple panels, and a lot of brands come and go. That experience is baked into every listing, every guide, and every editorial decision on this site.

Advanced Grow Lights exists to give quality manufacturers a place where the data speaks for itself, and to give buyers a single source they can trust before spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on lighting.

How We Work

AGL operates as an AI-assisted directory with human editorial oversight at every step.

AI handles the research-intensive work: monitoring manufacturer product lines, parsing photometric data, drafting listing content, and keeping specs current across 36+ brands. That’s the scale problem that makes a directory like this viable — there’s no practical way to track the full market manually.

Human editors review everything before it publishes. Every listing, every guide, every outreach email goes through a human checkpoint. AI accelerates the work; people make the calls.

We’re transparent about this because we think it matters. Manufacturers who partner with AGL get accurate, up-to-date listings maintained at a pace that manual-only operations can’t sustain. Buyers get a directory where the data is current and the editorial standards are consistent — not dependent on how much bandwidth the team has that week.

What We Do

For buyers:

  • A searchable, filterable directory of grow lights organized by technology, manufacturer, and use case
  • Verified spectrum and efficacy data — not just whatever the marketing department wrote
  • Educational guides on PPF, PPFD, DLI, IES files, and how to actually choose a light for your space
  • Calculator tools for coverage area, daily light integral, and mount height

For manufacturers:

  • A directory listing where your real numbers do the selling
  • An audience of buyers who are specifically researching grow lights
  • Listings maintained and updated as your product line evolves — not set-and-forgotten
  • Sponsored placement options for brands ready to invest in sustained visibility
  • An honest verification process — pass the audit, get the badge

How We Verify

Every listing goes through the same process:

  1. Manufacturer submits basic listing information through our contact form.
  2. We request the IES file and product specifications via a reviewed email channel. (We don’t allow public file uploads — security risk we’re not willing to take with our users.)
  3. We parse the IES file and compare its photometric data against the claimed PPF, efficacy (μmol/J), and coverage area.
  4. If the numbers check out, the listing publishes with a Verified badge.
  5. If the manufacturer provides independent third-party lab certification (DLC, accredited photometric testing, etc.), they earn an additional Third-Party Lab Verified badge.

We do not accept payment to skip verification. Manufacturers who don’t pass the audit can revise their specs, submit a corrected file, or list without the badge.

Editorial Standards

  • Spec data is the source of truth. Marketing copy doesn’t override what the IES file says.
  • No sponsored verification. Sponsorship affects placement and visibility, not the verification process or the badge.
  • AI-assisted, human-approved. AI accelerates research and drafting; every published item has been reviewed by a human editor.
  • Sources cited. Guides and educational content link to DLC, university extension programs, ASABE standards, and manufacturer technical documentation — not Reddit threads or competitor blog posts.
  • Conflicts disclosed. If we have any commercial relationship with a manufacturer beyond their listing, we say so.
  • Corrections published. If we get something wrong, we fix it openly and note what changed.
