Black Dog Phytomax LED Review

I recently received a review of a light that I provided to a customer. It was the Phytomax-2 200 watt LED Grow light from Black Dog LED.

It was so informative, I have decided to share it with all of you:

“I want to tell you about my latest harvest so far. I told you about my so called tent. 4 x 4 walls with pink panther insulation, walls, ceiling and floor. My only source of heat is 4 heating pads mostly keeping the soil warm. At best in the winter it might get to 60 degrees in there, but mostly in the upper 50s. To insure I was maintaining as much heat as I could, I sealed as many gaps as I could. (around the door, near the floor, areas like that)

I normally guess the harvest date and mark it on my wall calendar at the time of changing them to12 hrs. I am usually just about perfect on the date when I start seeing amber trics.

So….with that said, I will tell you my observations this time.

About 1 month prior to my scheduled harvest they started to stink. I could smell them right through the tent. I had more plants than usual in there this time. I had two extras when I moved them to the 12 hr side. I did not want to just kill them so I figured screw it, I will just concentrate on the tops. During the growing period, I had cut out as many lower fan leaves that I could reach, but lower area was still very dense. Hardly any light was getting to the bottoms of the plants. I had 4 total, 2 Tut/ 2 DOS.

By the time the “Scheduled” harvest date came, the trics were pretty cloudy but no sign of any amber anywhere. By now though, they stunk so bad, you could smell them outside, through the 4″ insulated walls, through the garage door and clean out near my front door of the house which is 40′ from the drive. Yes, I have a brand new carbon filter inside going through a blower from the 16 hr side to the 12 hr side. NONE of my other harvests have EVER stunk so good!

You know, one time one of my harvests did not stink at all. Even the big buds hardly had a smell at all, even when you broke open a large bud, hardly any scent. By the same token, you did not get high off it either. It was total shit weed.

I waited another week beyond the “scheduled date”, they never showed any signs of amber, but the trics were whiter than ever before. I did not water them, thinking I woud be harvesting soon. So I decided to go ahead and harvest. I left them in the dark for 36hrs, then harvested. I have to mention, the soil was pretty dry I noticed. You know I always through the used soil away, so I am able to see how wet or dry it is at harvest time.

Anyway, back to this harvest. I harvested on 4/1/22. Normally a regular crop will stink for a day or two during drying, hanging upside down. This last harvest is still hanging, it isn’t totally dry yet. You know I hang them in the unheated garage next to my tent with a small fan constantly blowing on them. That is my dryig method, my garage does not get below 35 degrees unless of course the door gets left open too long.

These suckers STILL stink GOOD. How long has it been? 8 days. I usually smoke my bud in a small bowl while I am watching TV on my porch. Well, yesterday I was watching the Masters. I decided to go cut some off the hanging harvest. I cut the some of the smallest buds. They weren’t even buds per say. If you held a handful, they were so light and airy they wouldn’t even weight a gram. I bet the hairs were still white at harvest. They were the little buds at the bottom of the plant that had hardly any light. I had been smoking during the day several times prior to picking these. I filled my little bowl, after a couple hits, I was suprised, these worthless little buds cut right through my old stale high. But even then I was skeptical. I figured I was just buzzed from the White Claw and whatever.

So, this morning, before my walk, I rolled a joint. I rolled only those worthless insignificant airy buds from the bottom of the plant. Really, it is all that is near dry so far. By the time I got through 1/3 of the joint, I could feel the buzz. I took a break from smoking, walked a while longer, then lit up again. By the time I finished it, OMG what a buzz I had. I bet it is the BEST weed I have ever grown so far. It was VERY smooth, no harshness what so ever. I bet that was from the soil being so dry. I was taking small baby hits because I was walking at the time. I usually gag if I walk and buff, not this time.

I can only imagine how good th real buds will be, ones at or even near the top. I NEVER had such a wonderful winter crop before….Never Never Never.

Tut & DOS is supposed to be close to 30% THC, I bet they are this time.

I will keep you posted on how the real buds are. The stems aren’t even dry yet, it will probably be a few more days.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
